Auston Ellis, PsyD
About me
My name is Auston Ellis, Psy.D. I am a Licensed Psychologist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. I prefer taking an evidenced-based, integrative approach to therapy that focuses on the strengths of an individual or couple as the foundation for growth. I view psychotherapy as a deeply enriching collaboration between the client and the therapist that aims to build on the client’s goals.
One of the most challenging steps many clients face is the uncertainty of therapy. My focus is on developing an environment based on safety, trust and respect to work towards every issue a person is encountering, big and small. My goal is to provide ongoing education to help client’s better understand the internal stressors (what’s happening inside the brain and body) and external stressors (what’s happening in the environment, relationships, home life, etc.) that contribute to struggles while using various modalities to help relieve their current stress (i.e., motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT and Mindfulness based approaches to help integrate the mind and the body). I am passionate about helping everyone who walks through my door reach their therapeutic goals through collaboration and communication
Modalities of Treatment include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Dialectal Behavioral Therapy
Behavioral Modification
Mindfulness Therapy
Gottman Method Couple’s Therapy Level I & II
Attachment Theory
I specialize in working with:

my background
In 2009 I graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with my undergraduate degree in Psychology. After graduation, I worked in the field for a couple of years before taking a brief hiatus to pursue a genuine passion in stand-up comedy before I began graduate studies.
In 2014, I was accepted in and began my graduate studies at Northwest University in the Doctor of Clinical Psychology program. I completed my doctoral studies in 2019 following my internship at Fairfax Hospital in Kirkland, WA where I worked extensively with co-occurring diagnoses which included active suicidality, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Eating Disorders and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, among others. Prior to my internship, I spent several years working in various aspects of the mental health field beginning in 2009 including a pilot program in Anchorage, AK that focused on behavioral and emotional modification for toddlers and young children. In my graduate studies I began working in an outpatient setting at NUhope Community Counseling in Kirkland, WA where I regularly worked with complex trauma, mood disorders and body image/eating disorders. Along with professional training I also spent seven years working at Navos Inpatient Hospital in West Seattle, WA.
